Dr. John D. Newman is Professor of Theatre at Utah Valley University and Director of the UVU Theatre for Youth and Education Center. Before coming to UVU, he taught and directed at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. He earned his BFA from the University of Utah, M.A. from the University of Texas, and Ph.D. from New York University.  He facilitates the AATE Playwrights In Our Schools Project and co-chairs the AATE Playwriting Network. He has published four novels as J. D. Newman, play anthologies as John Dilworth Newman and J. D. Newman, and an academic book as John Newman.
